How to Remove Odor from a Car

Remove car odour by extracting its carriers from the fabric, not with a new freshener tree. A Puzzi 10/1 cycle and proper drying often reduce food, damp or pet odour significantly. Rental 15 €/day; 062 110 999.

What is the problem?

Fresheners only mask the problem, and a damp interior without suction makes it worse. Sometimes the smell comes from the ventilation system, not the seats at all.

The solution

Diagnose by smell → dry vacuum → extract → dry fully → reassess without fragrance. 15 €/day, 50 €; Šumsko g. 308, Vilnius.

How does it work?

  1. Remove rubbish and old air fresheners from the car.
  2. Air out the car and dry vacuum everything.
  3. Identify the zone — seats, boot, or mats.
  4. Call 062 110 999 and describe the type of smell.
  5. Extract the problem zones over a wider area.
  6. Dry with doors or windows ajar.
  7. Judge the result without any fresheners.

Why Puzzis.lt?

Where car odours come from

Food, damp, pet hair, tobacco and sports gear each leave a different odour profile that needs a different approach. A fresh stain or recent smell responds to cleaning far better than one that's been building for months.

Sometimes the smell comes from the air conditioning ducts, not the seats at all — extraction won't fix that. Before starting, check by smell whether it's stronger with the ventilation running; if so, we'll say so honestly on the phone 062 110 999.

Extraction instead of a freshener

Dry vacuuming removes hair and crumbs that hold odour, while extraction pulls deeper-seated carriers out of the fabric itself. Dose the chemistry as instructed; skip the freshener before judging — it only gets in the way of an honest assessment.

Work a wider area than the suspected zone, since the source is often bigger than it first appears. After the cycle, let the interior dry with good airflow — damp fabric will temporarily smell different from once it's fully dry.

Keeping the interior fresh longer

Regular dry vacuuming every few weeks and quickly dealing with spills or food scraps stops odour from building up again. Keep mats clean and dry — they quickly become a secondary odour source in damp weather.

If the smell reduced but didn't fully disappear after one extraction cycle, a second pass after a day usually finishes the job better than trying to cover the residue with a strong tree freshener.

Frequently asked questions

Does an air freshener remove odour?

No — it only masks it while the problem stays in the fabric.

Is urine odour harder to remove?

It needs extraction and sometimes a second cycle — see our dedicated guide.

Does tobacco smell disappear completely?

The fabric improves a lot, but plastic and air may need a wider plan.

How much is the rental?

15 €/day.

Should I book the service?

Yes, if the smell is strong or its source is unclear.

The AC smells bad — is that the seats?

Not always — could be a different system, we'll advise by phone.

What if the stain did not come out?

If the stain remains after the first pass — a second chemistry portion is free during the same rental (at pickup / return).
