How to Remove Food Stains from a Sofa or Carpet | Puzzis.lt

How to Remove Food Stains

Food stains differ not just in colour but in composition: tomato sauce has both pigment and acid, gravy has fat, chocolate has fat and sugar. The common first step for all — quick dry blotting, then extraction with the Puzzi 10/1 (15 €/day). Call 062 110 999.

What is the problem?

A food stain left overnight hardens and soaks in deeper, and scrubbing with a cloth spreads the pigmented area instead of containing it.

The solution

Blot excess dry → separate pigment from fat → proper chemical (1 €/tab) → extraction → drying.

How does it work?

  1. Remove solid residue with a spoon or blunt knife — don't press it deeper into the fabric.
  2. Blot the liquid part with a clean cloth, pressing rather than wiping.
  3. For fatty sauces use a degreasing chemical; for acidic ones (tomato, berries) a neutral cleaner.
  4. Avoid hot water — it fixes both pigment and fat.
  5. Extract with the Puzzi 10/1 a wider circle than the visible stain, then dry fully.

Why Puzzis.lt?

Why a food stain gets worse overnight

A stain left untreated dries out, and its components — sugar, fat, pigment — bond more strongly with the fabric fibres than in the first minutes. What looked like a light mark in the morning can become a hard-to-remove stain by evening.

So even if you don't have time to clean immediately, at least dry-blot the excess to reduce how much soaks in deeper.

Different sauces, different risks

Tomato sauce or berries are pigment plus acid, which can affect fabric colour if left too long. A fatty gravy or buttery sauce behaves like a grease stain — it needs a degreasing chemical, not just water.

When there are several different stains at once, the best solution is one Puzzi 10/1 session for all of them. Rental 15 €/day or 25 €, chemical 1 €/tab, deposit 50 € refundable.

Frequently asked questions

Are all food stains cleaned the same way?

No — fatty ones need a degreaser, acidic ones (tomato, berries) a neutral cleaner without bleach.

Why did the stain get worse when I tried cleaning it myself?

Usually hot water or rubbing — both fix the pigment deeper.

How much does the Puzzi 10/1 rental cost?

15 €/day, 25 €, deposit 50 €, chemical 1 €/tab.

Is it worth calling about several old stains at once?

Yes — call 062 110 999, we'll plan one session for all of them.

What if the stain did not come out?

If the stain remains after the first pass — a second chemistry portion is free during the same rental (at pickup / return).

How soon is the deposit refunded?

The same day you return the equipment undamaged (cash or transfer — as you paid).
