A fabric sofa can't handle as much water as a carpet — too much liquid can soak the foam inside and take a long time to dry out. What matters most isn't quantity but precise dosing and thorough suction right after the solution goes in. Before you start, check the care code on the label — it tells you whether water cleaning is even an option.
Different fabrics — chenille, tapestry weaves, quilted covers, microfibre — react to moisture differently. A generic soap-and-cloth approach often leaves rings or fades the colour, and too much moisture can cause a musty smell inside if the sofa doesn't dry quickly.
Read the care code, vacuum dry, then wash using layered extraction — solution in, immediate suction out. Use only chemistry made for baldų (1 €/pc), never washing-up liquid. In Vilnius, Puzzi 10/1 rental starts at 15 €/day, pickup at Šumsko g. 308, Vilnius.
A W on the label means the fabric is fine with water cleaning — extraction with a Puzzi 10/1 is the safest option here. An S means dry, solvent-based cleaning only — avoid water altogether.
WS lets you choose either method depending on the stain. X means dry vacuuming or brushing only — no moisture or chemicals at all. If there's no label, or it's worn away, always test on a hidden spot first.
You don't need much solution — what matters is that it's extracted right after it goes in. The Kärcher Puzzi 10/1 does both in one motion: it sprays and immediately pulls the liquid back out along with the dissolved dirt.
Work in short strokes and don't linger in one spot, to avoid over-saturating the fabric. After the main pass, go over it once more with the dry nozzle to draw out any moisture left deeper in the pile.
Never mix washing-up liquid with professional chemistry to make it stronger — the foam just makes suction harder and leaves a sticky residue. Chlorine or acetone can permanently change the colour, especially on natural fibres.
If the fabric feels stiff or uneven after cleaning, that usually means too much moisture was left behind — let it dry fully, then gently brush the pile with a soft brush. If in doubt, call 062 110 999 before continuing.
